Mrs. Jennifer Gardner
de Díaz, or Miss Jennie as she is called by her students, is a dynamic teacher,
from Wales, Great Britain. She is married to the Mine Geologist Raúl Ambiórix Díaz, M.
A., who is from
Santiago, and is the President / Administrator of Saint David. Miss Jennie has lived in the Dominican Republic for the last twenty three years. She believes that, as her two children were born here, the Dominican
Republic is now her country by adoption.
She graduated Bachelor
of Education (Honours), Magna Cum Laude, in the University of Wales in 1980.
Although her specialism is at the Primary Level, her work in Great Britain was
with a variety of groups: children, adolescents and adults in various Social
Programs in the different branches of the British Educational System. In 1983
she was selected as a representative of the Department of Education in an
exchange between Great Britain and Hong Kong. This was organized by the British
Commonwealth Council.
After immigrating to
the Dominican Republic, with her husband, in 1985, she has since learnt to speak
Spanish; and has worked in the Private Sector. She worked as the teacher of
English, Art and Music at the Centro
Educacional de Bonao,
a school owned by Falconbridge Dominicana, C. por A. From 1987 to 1999 she worked at
Colegio Zambrana, ex Rosario Dominicana, S. A., Pueblo Viejo, Cotuí, where she taught at
the primary level in the American Curriculum Program. She became the Principal
of the School from 1989 to 1999.
In 1999, Miss Jennie
and Raul founded Saint David School, and they are very proud of the
success of the project.
Jennie is well known
due to her creativity, especially in Arts, Drama and Music, and for her will to
form children of the new generation.
