General
Objectives:
To provide a
program for children and adolescents that offers a range of educational experiences
to its members through creative, and fun activities. Offering recreational
facilities, the SDSAA allows kids to relax after a day at school; do their
homework, and research using the resource facilities; use the Educational
Software in the Computer Lab or under adult supervision surf on the internet. SDSAA offers an English Program with a difference: it is coordinated by Jennie
Gardner, a graduated teacher from Wales, with many years of experience both in
Britain and the Dominican Republic. The
Art and Drama Workshop
provides a stimulating approach for children to develop personally and develop
further English language skills. Students can also sign up to learn to play
the recorder (flute) or just socialize with their friends in the Dragon
Café.

Resource
Center
Under expert
supervision of a System Engineer, the members can use a variety of educational
software, and connect with the world on the Internet. They can also see a
dedicated space to their own work and to themselves.
Library:
The reading area
provides a wide range of books, just to sit and look at or to borrow and take
home to read at their leisure. In this area, adult supervision is available for
children to complete homework assignments. Encyclopedia Software in the Computer
Lab provides a wide range of information for all ages.
Each month the
Resource Center features a theme of interest, encouraging members to participate
in simple experiments, create posters and multimedia presentations about the
topic.
The English and
Spanish Program is an innovative approach to learning English or Spanish as a Second
Language, through a Personalized Reinforcement Program (PRP). Although
written English/Spanish skills and grammar are taught within the program the emphasis is
on communication. Using a dynamic approach to language development students
learn through drama, songs, poetry, and games, to both speak and understand the
English/Spanish Language.
The Art and Drama
Workshop complements the English Program, by using the creative talents of the
participants to extend their language skills through drawing, painting and
crafts and through improvisation, theatre, dance and music and song.
Periodically, members will be invited to work towards theatrical productions to
be presented to their parents and friends.
The Cafeteria area
provides a relaxed atmosphere for students to socialize during the breaks. Here
you can find out all the news and activities related to both the School and the
SDSAA.
The Gallery:
In the gallery space,
the Member's artwork is displayed. In order to keep the children and their
family informed of the different activities and forthcoming events of the
school, visit What’s
